Chief of Staff to the COO
Product – Product Operations
The Chief of Staff to the COO is both a strategic thinker and a master of tactical detail, helping the COO of Etsy best leverage time and resources to manage the operations of the business across multiple functions and across global teams. This position is based in Brooklyn.
The role falls into two key areas:
Program management. Program Management in this role is all about managing the weekly, quarterly, and annual rhythm of the COO. This includes driving and/or supporting the following functions:
-Regular operating team meetings
-Managing the business and product roadmaps with the GMs
-Annual strategic planning and budgeting (For the business lines)
-Support in building internal and external presentations for the COO
-Support on board meetings for the operations team
-Collaborating on metrics tracking and KPIs for Operating team
-Support on agendas and direction for meetings led by the COO, ensure there are clear action items and follow ups after every meeting
Strategic projects. The Chief of Staff will drive and manage select strategic projects for the Operations team as they arise. These projects will be defined at the time of need, but examples could include:
-One-off cross functional strategic projects that impact the Operations organization
-Competitive landscape research and collaboration on thought leadership
-Lead in managing external speaking engagements with the comms team
-Strong writing ability
-Deep knowledge and demonstrated experience working with product teams
-Understanding of roadmapping and business strategy
-Deep sense of intellectual curiosity and respect for creative work
-Ability to research complex topics with overlapping technology, finance, legal, and general management issues
-Command of current events and societal trends and how Etsy fits into them
