The Project Manager Engineering role is responsible for the scheduling and managing of the construction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure involving general contractors, architecture, engineering and permitting, utility connections and onsite facilities vendors and partners.  Lead the development of efficient, effective management systems in a demanding, schedule-driven start-up environment.  As the manager, you will oversee all aspects of the project selection, development, and specifications.  As the ideal candidate, you must thrive in fast-paced start up environments, with exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

    • Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the construction function
    • Responsible for safety initiatives and meeting aggressive and high-profile corporate goals
    • Multi-project management of electrical infrastructure in parking lots and garages
    • Management of the stakeholder relationship for all projects relative to project execution and construction contract management
    • Performance tracking (schedule, budget, risks, claims, EH&S, quality, etc.) and implementation of correction measures if necessary
    • Implementation of project management procedures
    • Monitor project costs to be sure delivery is within budget
    • Monitor post production results for launched projects
    • Compile and report on successes and gaps
    • Review EVgo processes for efficiencies
    • Automate backend reporting whenever possible through use of Microsoft suite of products.
    • Ability to frequently brief management to stay abreast of progress in the field
    • Monthly project review and quarterly reporting to external agencies
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of current construction practices and standards and develop and implement changes to improve the process. Strive for best practices by sharing lessons learned in the construction phase of project implementation with the design team
    • Provide leadership to the project management team, including the management of employees performing construction management and system commissioning; Provide timely and accurate feedback regarding performance
    • Negotiate contracts with 3rd party contractors and subcontractors and administer such contracts
    • Oversee the commissioning of new charging facilities, insuring that facilities are completed as designed and are in proper working order upon substantial completion
    • Work with EVgo’s procurement group to assure compliance with EVgo procedures and the timely processing of change orders and approval of invoices
    • Oversee the budget process for construction activities. Assure adherence to the budget plan and balance cost and risk management.
    • Significant regional (3 days per week) and possible statewide (1 day per week) travel
    • Adapt to a changing business model and learn to contribute across the organization

Skills, Experience, and Education

    • BS in Engineering or Licensed Master Electricians with +2 years college credit
    • 5+ years professional experience
    • 5+ years managerial experience
    • 5+ years “hands-on” field level managerial experience
    • Strong project management skills
    • Extensive experience in scheduling construction at multiple sites at once and managing subcontractors and other vendors
    • Leadership ability in a high performance culture with ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Product
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Salesforce or equivalent software a plus
    • PMP (Project Management Certification) preferred
