About the role:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Environment, the Senior Lead, Environment is responsible for the management and integration of environmental activities and initiatives associated with development work and projects at and associated with the site, including regulatory approvals implementation. In this position, you will be leading a diverse team of environmental professionals.

This person can effectively engage both externally and internally with peers and professionals at all levels of the organization to lead change through strategic direction. Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are vital for this role.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team who support successful planning, integration, and implementation of development work, including regulatory approvals and projects, with existing operations
- Manage implementation and integration of environment-related requirements into site operational practices, including regulatory submissions, management plans and monitoring programs
- Liaise with operational and functional departments to support strong environmental management of site related projects
- Lead and participate in regulatory and internal audits, inspections, and investigations
- Represent the site and EVR while leading engagements and managing relationships with provincial and federal government agencies, Indigenous groups, and other local communities of interest
- Proactively manage environmental risks, and respond to and manage environmental incidents as necessary
- Prepare, submit, and present technical information to a variety of audiences
- Provide senior level reviews and guidance across scopes, and support annual budget development and tracking
- Advise senior management, collaborate with partners, and participate as a member of the senior leadership team at site
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field
- Minimum eight years demonstrated ability working in an industrial setting, preferably in mining
- Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience
- Technical knowledge of federal and provincial assessment and compliance practices, and regulations related to resource development
- Experience in project management and delivery, environmental data management and reporting, and obligations management
- Registered, or eligible to apply as a qualified professional such as RPBio, PAg, P.Eng., RPF or related designation is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
$137,000 - $170,000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
