Exploding Kittens is seeking to hire a driven, agile, and technically strong Accounting Supervisor who is passionate about accounting operations and driving process improvements. This role requires excellent communication, strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, organization, and ability to manage and work with various cross-functional teams. In this role you will own key operational processes and systems including revenue, procurement, cost of sales, operating expenses, monthly close, financial inventory, and consolidation reporting and will report directly to the Director of Accounting.

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:

    • Manage operational team ensuring the proper closing and review of the AP and AR subledger, collection and disbursements, recording of accruals, and posting of journal entries
    • Manage all Intercompany related transactions and perform the required close procedures and reporting requirements
    • Perform the general accounting function, which includes, cash management and reconciliation, and balance sheet management (including inventory related items)
    • Perform the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures
    • Perform and review account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, analysis of results, close calendar, and consolidation reporting
    • Work closely with Logistics to ensure accuracy within cost of sales and inventory functions
    • Assist in the compliance for Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation; assist in compliance for international VAT/GST reporting requirements (Avalara software a plus)
    • Assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of appropriate accounting and internal control policies and procedures and process improvements 
    • Lead, coach, mentor and train the team; take an active interest in their career and  development and find ways to continue their growth and development

WHAT WE NEED:

    • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
    • 1-3 years of people management experience 
    • A BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
    • Experience with accounting operations and monthly accounting close 
    • Demonstrated ability for attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to leverage technology to build scalable processes, gain efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve outcomes 
    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions 
    • Team player with proven ability to take initiative, multi-task, work efficiently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
    • Located in: CA, AZ, WA, NY, MO, MI, TX, ID

$95,000 - $115,000 a year
This salary represents a range for the position and will ultimately depend on the individuals’ qualifications and years of experience, location, and is subject to change.
