The Controller / VP, Finance is responsible for planning and directing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with accepted accounting principles and financial management practices to support the company’s overall goals and objectives.
The Controller / VP, Finance will be Fabric’s in-house finance leader focusing on both strategic and tactical objectives. As a skilled financial leader and strong collaborator, the Controller will make it their mission to oversee our Finance function. This role will lead the day-to-day management and execution of our finance operations, scaling the framework for monitoring our financial health and supporting Fabric Genomics rapid growth.
The Controller/ VP, Finance will support our investors and employee’s equity programs as well as support the CEO and Management in fundraising activities. They will also partner with the Sales/Account Management Team to understand all aspects of our sales process to streamline execution while striving for excellence. You’ll be sought out by our Leadership Team for financial analysis for gaining insights into what will help improve our operational efficiency and aid our growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and support short and long-term finance operations strategies in collaboration with the CEO and management team
Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and trends to assist the CEO, the Board of Directors, and other Executives in performing their responsibilities Establish financial and operating benchmarks, guidelines, budgets, controls, monitoring, and reporting standards
Present comprehensive financial updates by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
Manage the monthly closing process, including developing and enforcing standard procedures and reporting deadlines
Ensure accuracy and completion of all aspects of finance/account operations, such as cash management, receivables, payable, financial reporting for internal and external purposes
Manage and administer all payroll functions to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant processing
Manage the stock administration for the company
Responsible for financial aspects of sales operations, commission structure, and customer contractors
Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and all relevant financial laws and regulations
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Manage relationships with banks and independent auditors
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Start-up experience
7+ years of related experience in progressive roles within the accounting and finance function
Strong working knowledge of financial management, financial data analysis, and budgeting
Experience working with a SaaS Company in the life sciences industry
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiar with Google Suite
Must be willing and able to learn other software programs as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER ABILITIES
Strong grasp on US GAAP, financial reporting, state and federal taxes
Diplomacy and tact in resolving issues with employees, investors, customers, and vendors
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, process, and procedures
Knowledge of International (ISO) standards Excellent organizational and time management skills required
Must possess excellent attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication as well as listening details
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to conduct business, budget, risk and market analysis
Forecasting abilities
Strong negotiating techniques
Knowledge of federal, state, and local accounting compliance regulations and reporting
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES CPA, CFA, or CMA highly preferred or Professional accounting certification
EDUCATION Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
