About the Role 

We are looking for a dynamic and problem-solving Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware team. You will be responsible for the mechanical design of our autonomous robot fleet, prototype new components, and dig into existing mechanical issues and coordinate with the software and hardware design team to redesign, implement, and iterate on solutions.

About the Work

    • Direct design of new features to improve performance and reliability of our machine.
    • Work face to face with Skilled Techs and Operators to understand and improve the machine.  You will need to help their management and other teams understand the issues they explain to you.
    • Prototype new features to be used on future fleets of vehicles.
    • Coordinate between various other teams within the company to implement changes or test new features.

About You

    • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 5+ years of experience 
    • An ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills to bridge teams, communicate effectively, and help everyone understand what is happening on the ground.
    • An ideal candidate is interdisciplinary. They must have hands-on experience in electrical engineering, and a cursory understanding of software functions.
    • Strong experience working with vehicles, machine equipment, or robotic assemblies
    • Strong experience with 3D design tools such as SolidWorks, or other CAD tools
    • Experience with formed sheet metal and machined parts design
    • Expert machine design knowledge
    • Hands-on experience in prototyping, troubleshooting, and getting dirt on your face.
    • Experience with: hydraulics, pneumatics, valving, sensors and electrical control components
    • Have had primary technical and design responsibility for all aspects of mechanical assemblies which were successfully produced in moderate to high volume
    • Have had primary technical and design responsibility for aspects of electro-mechanical assemblies
