The Sr Accountant – Royalties and Licensing role is primarily responsible for full cycle accounting of all royalty and licensing associated revenue, expense, and accruals.  This position will review contracts between Feld and various partners to determine and execute the appropriate accounting.  Tasks will also include related month-end close procedures and quarterly deliverables, reconciliation of contracts, and associated balance sheet accounts.  Additionally, the role could include full cycle engagement accounting for touring properties as time permits. 

Essential Job Functions

    • Review, determine, and execute appropriate accounting and calculations for all royalty and licensing agreements as well as preparing and submitting associated monthly and quarterly internal and external deliverables.
    • Review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger activity and account balances relating to royalty and licensing activity in an accurate and timely manner.  Document and record necessary adjustments in accordance with established company policies, GAAP, and IFRS.
    • Reconcile existing contract payments to the general ledger.
    • Perform reviews of relevant financial statement results and other operational reporting relating to royalties and licensing.  Establish and maintain control procedures for compliance with GAAP/IFRS. 
    • Monitor payments of royalties and collections of licensing royalties to ensure accurate and timely settlement per contractual agreements.
    • Lead and coordinate the royalty audit processes; Partner with auditors and local accountants to complete data gathering, testing procedures, and audit result reporting.  
    • Monitor and research relevant changes in both GAAP and IFRS.  Partner with leadership to evaluate new business activities that could or should result in changes to transactions and/or accounting policies.
    • Collaborate with key business partners including FCP/Merchandise Accounting, Licensing Director,  FP&A, Legal, External Auditors, and IT royalty and licensing-related matters.
    • Responsible to and includes the opportunity to lead projects related to royalty and licensing, including developing monthly reporting dashboard to be shared with leadership.
    • Assist with other ad hoc audits and Analyses as assigned.
    • Assist with ERP system testing and implementation projects as scheduled.
    • Other related or engagement duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

    • BS in Accounting required, MACC or MBA preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in corporate or public accounting.
    • Experience with royalty and licensing accounting preferred.
    • Experience in a larger company environment with exposure to licensing agreements and large data sets.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and major ERP software applications required. Experience with Infor is a plus.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments along with a positive, customer service approach to accounting services.
    • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a busy working environment and the ability to meet all regulatory deadlines.
    • In-depth knowledge of technical accounting and research/documentation skills.
    • Foreign language skills are a plus.
