Fig is a venture-backed company building a platform for funding and publishing independent video games and is hiring a gamer with experience as a back end engineer. This is an opportunity to join as one of the first employees at Fig, shape the way we develop software, and have fun changing the way that games get made. The first version of our platform just launched, but there's always tons of interesting work left to do!

Specifically, we are looking for someone with some or all of the following skills:

    • Rapid product prototyping
    • Ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges
    • Ability to write high quality code that's well tested
    • Comfortable writing code that safely handles money
    • A good understanding of CSS is a big plus
    • An eye for design and user experience is another big plus
    • Interested in really digging into performance issues, load time is important (client and server side!)
    • Several years of professional experience working on web projects

Reasons to be excited:

    • Own a majority of the engineering decisions and stack
    • Work with a small, very experienced (not our first rodeo!), and extremely productive team reporting directly to the CTO
    • Work with founders & CEO to determine company strategy
    • Meet and work with some of the world’s greatest indie game developers
    • Great benefits. Full medical, dental and vision

Our tech stack (familiarity with any of these is a plus but not required, we’d rather work with fast learners!):

    • Backend application servers in Rails 4
    • PostgreSQL + redis + memcached
    • Currently deployed to Heroku, but AWS experience would be a big plus!
    • Yes, we unit test :) Lots of RSpec that we run with Travis.CI
    • React (with Redux)
    • Sass using Flexbox (with a bit of Bootstrap CSS)
    • Some Angular code in the CMS that we're actively replacing with React

If you’re interested, please send us a link to one of your GitHub repos or a code sample that you're proud of, and let us know the most recent game you really got into. We’re looking forward to getting to know you!
