The Role

As the Data & Analytics Engineer Lead at Fig, you will manage the development and execution of our data analytics stack, playing a crucial role in enhancing our ability to make informed business decisions. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in data engineering, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of implementing and managing data solutions.  You will also have opportunities to work on problems in data science, infrastructure, and machine learning. You will work in a small, tight-knit team and report directly to the Head of Engineering. 

Fig launched in early 2022. We have good momentum, revenue, and functional software powering our product. But it is still early. This is an opportunity to play a major role defining and building our data stack and infrastructure, working with diverse teams and growing your leadership skills. 

What you'll do

    • Data Engineering - Develop and manage the end-to-end data lifecycle; Design, development, and maintenance of robust data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy timeliness and reliability.
    • Data Governance and Compliance - Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure the integrity, and accuracy of our data assets, and work closely with compliance to ensure the company’s adherence to data-related privacy and compliance standards.
    • Strategic Enablement - work closely with cross-functional teams including product, risk, technology, finance, and business units to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions for data-driven decisions.
    • Continuous Improvement - identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation within the data ecosystem; Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and analytics.

What you'll need

    • 5+ years of professional experience in a data engineer or analytics engineer role or equivalent experience.
    • Strong expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining data infrastructure solutions, including ELT processes, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
    • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and experience with data engineering tools and frameworks.
    • Working knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
    • Ability to hold yourself and the team to high standards.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • English proficiency/fluency (written and speaking). (Note: Interviews will be conducted in English.)

What’d be nice to have

    • Experience working with tools in our data stack: fivetran, dbt, snowflake, dagster and metabase or similar.
    • Experience working with data in the financial industry or products in similar regulatory environments.
    • Experience working in an early stage company or high-growth environment.
    • Experience with Machine learning, credit or risk modeling.
    • Bonus if you are fluent in French (not mandatory).
