Researcher, Senior Level

San Francisco, CA
Product
Full-time
We’re looking for an experienced researcher to help product teams prioritize strategic opportunities and ground design decisions in human needs.

Figma is an exciting place to do research, because the teams have made it a priority to have a direct dialogue with their user communities from the very beginning. As Research at Figma grows into a formal function, we’re looking for researchers who can supercharge the user-centered orientation that already exists. This role is the second hire on the Research team, so there’s lots of room for your energy and creativity in pushing the boundaries of what research can be. We’re just getting started!

What You'll Do

    • Synthesize existing knowledge from across the organization into knowns and unknowns
    • Identify the right open questions and proactively plan your research roadmap
    • Own research projects from study design and recruiting through socialization
    • Use creative research approaches with the appropriate level of rigor for the need
    • Deliver actionable findings and recommendations
    • Develop organizational shared knowledge by helping the organization see connections across research studies
    • Collaborate with Design, Product, and Engineering teams to prioritize opportunities and evaluate progress against goals
    • Evangelize and educate on behalf of the research function

What We're Looking For

    • 2+ years conducting user experience research in a fast-paced product development environment
    • Experience conducting surveys, semi-structured interviews, contextual field visits, usability/concept testing either live or remote
    • A strong portfolio of research deliverables(e.g. workshops, slides, reports, posters)
    • Thoughtful approaches to collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders
    • The ability to reflect and improve on your skills and approaches over time

Nice to Haves

    • Designing and analyzing large-scale surveys
    • Research operations (e.g. participant databases, insights repositories)
    • Training others to do research
    • Facilitating participatory design workshops
    • Conducting research outside the US
