The Role:
The Director of Data Operations leads and supports our Data Operations team, which is 25+ people strong and has long been one of the largest teams at findhelp. The Data team is fundamental to the impact we create as a company, and is responsible for adding and maintaining the programs that make up the findhelp directory, used by 12m+ people. This role additionally contributes to our company goal of developing skills and growth opportunities to Data team members which allows for their advancement within the Data team or other teams in the organization.

What You’ll Do:

    • Develop and Implement Data Operations strategy.  You will use internal operations data (such as customer reports, user path analysis, etc.) to make data-driven decisions and cultivate the Data team’s strategy. You will establish department metrics that are in line with the broad company objectives and goals. You will strive to make your team’s work more efficient, process driven, and valuable to people in need.
    • Monitor and support team progress. You are in charge of defining and monitoring essential team metrics. You know where the team stands on their projects and ensure that deadlines are met. You communicate and collaborate with leadership in other departments to eliminate roadblocks and facilitate cross functional opportunities. You ensure that the CEO, COO, and other members of findhelp’s Senior Leadership Team are aware of the Data Operations department’s escalations, barriers, and successes.
    • Lead and mentor direct reports to build and maintain a cohesive team. Growing people personally and professionally is a top priority. You will lead, develop, motivate, and challenge individuals who are typically newer to the workforce. You’re checking in regularly through 1:1 and skip-level meetings to cultivate their development, giving regular performance feedback, receiving feedback from team members and removing barriers to allow them to do their best work.
    • Spread the findhelp goodness: We believe that people should be treated with dignity. You will foster a culture on your team that is supportive and welcoming, where everyone feels valued and included, and where people are challenged and encouraged to grow.

Who You Are:

    • Puts People Front and Center.  You recognize the importance of the people in achieving the mission. You will work to attract, hire, retain, and develop people while making sure everyone is heard and producing.
    • Anticipates.  You anticipate growth, business needs and most importantly, problems (so they can be avoided) by having the organization ready to deliver what is expected of it at future points in time.
    • Delegates. You understand that you can’t do everything and know how to empower your greater team.
    • Is a Planner.  You prioritize, use time efficiently, plan for additional resources and develop realistic and actionable plans.
    • Is a Problem Solver: You focus on identifying and leading the team in fixing problems and irregularities in internal processes.
    • Is Data Driven: In a job with lots of numbers, you use them to improve people, processes, and efficiency.
    • Is In It for the Mission: You have a belief that no task is too small in service of our mission.

Experience You’ll Bring:

    • Become an expert on our internal systems and provide training and mentoring to the team.
    • Provide advice on best practices and standard processes, keeping end user experience and internal stakeholder needs in mind.
    • Help grow emerging leaders. Coach supervisors on leadership and management and help build career development opportunities for your team and others in the department.
    • Help define and prioritize team projects.
    • Strategic Planning. Help define team and department goals. Jump in and execute personally or if the work is better delegated, own monitoring and communicating progress toward goals.
    • Utilize quality metrics to measure effectiveness of the team and internal processes.
    • Improve the product. Work with our Product team to prioritize enhancements.
    • Collaborate. Work with functional data team leaders to brainstorm, implement, and support  ideas that make the teams more efficient and the product more effective.
