The purpose of the LPC is to closely collaborate with the shared clinical services team, delivering expert behavioral health diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support to patients with serious mental illness across Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

This primarily virtual role, situated in the fun and fast-paced environment of a startup, leverages both telephone and video visit encounters to provide critical support during crises and to teach effective coping skills. By empowering individuals to manage their conditions proactively, the LPC plays a pivotal role in helping patients achieve stability and improve their quality of life, enabling them to live as fully and independently as possible.

As a LPC you will:

    • Focused Short-term Counseling: Provide targeted counseling services designed for brief interventions, offering one to four 30-minute sessions. These sessions are tailored to achieve significant therapeutic outcomes in a condensed timeframe, enabling quick relief and strategic guidance for clients in need.
    • Critical Suicide Crisis Support: Serve as a lifeline for individuals in acute crisis by offering immediate, compassionate, and effective intervention during suicidal emergencies. This vital role ensures safety and instills hope in moments of profound distress.
    • Meticulous Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This meticulous documentation is essential for ensuring continuity of care and compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Collaborative Team Approach: Work closely with Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses (APN-Cs) to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. This collaboration enhances the quality of patient care through shared expertise and integrated health strategies.

You will be a good fit if you have:

    • Experience with with counseling individuals with serious mental illness (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, major depressive disorder)
    • Comfortable with allowing shadowing of peer recovery specialists and nurse practitioners
    • Ability to work both autonomously as a self-starter, and collaboratively as a team member
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently complete progress notes after patient sessions 
    • Experience providing telehealth services, evidence-based treatment modalities (DBT, CBT, EFT, etc), and using Google G-suite

The experience you bring to this role includes:

    • Masters degree from an accredited school
    • LPC in Tennessee (required) and willing to get licensed (we cover cost) in Florida, Ohio, and Michigan
    • Mental Health Services Provider Designation (MHSP)
    • Telehealth clinical experience
    • Familiarity and comfort with the DSM V diagnostic criteria
    • Evidence of mature judgment and crisis intervention skills
$70,000 - $80,000 a year
This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position reporting to firsthand's Director of Shared Clinical Services.  firsthand cares deeply about ensuring pay equity with every team member who joins. Commensurate on candidate experience, the expected range for this role’s base salary is $70,000 - $80,000.

Vaccination Policy

Employment with firsthand is contingent upon attesting to medical clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to: evidence of vaccination for/immunity to COVID-19, Hepatitis B, Influenza, MMR, Chickenpox, Tetanus and Diphtheria. All employees of firsthand are required to receive these vaccinations on a cadence/frequency as advised by the CDC, whereas not otherwise prohibited by state law.
