About the Position
This position will be intense, with an ebb and flow of activity throughout the election season and likely continuing through the inauguration. When the candidate is active, you'll need to be ready to work. Our goal is to ensure comprehensive coverage that is timely, but not always real-time. You will coordinate with the campaigns and our editorial team, flagging items of interest and ensuring that we are recording and documenting events that may not be covered by the press pool. Over time, you will develop a deep understanding of the candidate and their campaign.
About the Team
CQ Roll Call's Factba.se, the canonical source of every statement made by the president and presidential candidates, is seeking a tenacious and detail-oriented researcher to track and document the presidential campaign of either Joe Biden or Donald Trump. This position is responsible for capturing every public statement, interview, and event involving the assigned candidate, ensuring that no detail is missed. The researcher will work to obtain audio, video, and transcripts of each occurrence, building relationships with the campaigns to ensure comprehensive coverage. This is a fixed contract position based in Washington, D.C., running through January 20, 2025.
About You
We are looking for a recent graduate with a strong interest in politics and a journalism background. The ideal candidate will be tenacious, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. An interest in or experience with data reporting is a plus, but not required -- if you know Excel, you can learn as you go. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, persistent, and able to gather and mine raw data effectively. W
