As Fitbod’s first Lead Data Engineer, you will take full ownership over the building and maintenance of our ETL pipeline and infrastructure. In addition, you’ll also launch systems for storing, aggregating, and analyzing large amounts of data.

Data is the core of our app! Our recommendation AI employs advanced statistics, machine learning, and over 400 million fitness data points (such as timestamped reps, weight, and perceived exertion) to create flexible fitness plans that are completely personalized to each user. 

To date, Fitbod users have logged 1 billion ‘sets at the gym’, and in 2022 alone, lifted 135 billion pounds!

This role will help scale our analytical capabilities and unlock the full potential of our dataset by improving the integrity of our data. You will empower our Data Science team to iterate and execute models, while assisting every other team in making data driven decisions. You will directly support the continued growth of our userbase and company as a whole!

~ Snapshotting and loading production postgres databases into BigQuery. 

~ Pushing data to third-party tools such as MixPanel, Iterable 

~ Pulling data from LaunchDarkly, Ad 

~ Platforms (Apple, Facebook, Snapchat etc).

~ Rapid prototyping (e.g. muscle strength metrics from BQ to postgres)

BigQuery is our central data warehouse. Our ETL orchestration is managed through airflow, using Google’s Managed Cloud Composer. 

For Data Visualization: Mixpanel and Tableau

For Running Data Science Models: Vertex AI and Google Cloud Functions

Our Server Stack: Go and Ruby on Rails. All in GCP.

Positions are 100% remote-only.

Compensation: Options/Equity & Base Salary $170-195k+ ; dependent upon years of experience & leveling (which is evaluated during the interview process).
