What we are looking for:

Flawless has built a team of leading scientists and engineer across its offices in Los Angeles and London to work on the world’s most innovative technology for filmmakers.  As we continue to grow this team, we are now looking to hire a Staff Platform Engineer in our LA office to mainly support our Science team in managing and scaling up infrastructure and services for machine learning, whilst supporting the rapid innovation and daily needs of the team. This is a new role within the global Platform Engineering team who own the overall cloud infrastructure, SRE and DevEx across Flawless.  The Staff Platform Engineer will foster close collaboration with our Science teams in LA and London, and provide technical thought leadership to ensure the team have the appropriate tools and infrastructure available to them.  We’re constantly working to utilize the latest tools and technology to improve our platform's scalability, efficiency and security.  You’ll be working across multiple different science and data workstreams and as such, your work will be very challenging and varied.

Qualifications

    • Experience building and supporting infrastructure and services in AWS.  Preferably also GCP.
    • Foundational knowledge of AI/ML and experience working with science teams / data engineering / MLOps.
    • Familiarity with IaC such as Terraform or CloudFormation
    • Experience using containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools, including Kubernetes
    • Experienced building elastic, efficient infrastructure and auto-scaling environments
    • Experience in writing code to automate processes.
    • Experience working on CICD pipelines (we use Github Actions)
    • Experience with GitHub developer platforms (user & admin level)
    • Experience with developing and/or maintaining local/cloud Linux based GPU servers

Preferred Qualifications

    • Demonstrable experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms, such as SageMaker or Vertex AI
    •  Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras

Responsibilities

    • This is an Onsite role under a hybrid work schedule - We are not able to hire fully remotely for this position.

    • Plan and develop flexible, cost-effective and scalable infrastructure based on the science roadmap.
    • Detect and address infrastructure bottlenecks, e.g., data loading in deep learning frameworks.
    • Manage science team data storage: data sets, archives, housekeeping, etc.
    • Resolve network and workstation access issues.
    • Ambassador for Science and DevOps: communicate infrastructure changes and roadmap to stakeholders.
    • Resolve daily requests (tasks and issues) from science.
    • Onboard new hires: AWS access, cluster/workstation utilization, security, storage management and policies, best practices for model training/testing, etc.
    • Manage GitHub access, groups and repo permissions.
    • Cloud infrastructure management: Cost tracking, instance usage, workstation policy management.
$200,000 - $250,000 a year
