JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Fleetzero's Electrical, Hardware, and Embedded team and contribute to R&D and production of the next generation in maritime technology. We work in a highly iterative method, testing early and often, rather than a traditional linear or waterfall development program.

In this team, you will develop the next generation of battery management systems for vessel propulsion applications for autonomous, electric, and hybrid vessels. You will integrate with firmware engineers and manage projects from conception through testing iterations, prototype manufacturing, and field testing. This is a hands-on role developing critical components for safety-critical applications in harsh environments. You will be expected to be comfortable taking independent initiative and working as a team with other highly motivated engineers.

Responsibilities

    • Design, test, and validation of Battery Management Systems (BMS).
    • Full cycle PCB design, including defining requirements, schematic design, component selection, layout, bring-up, test, debug, and integration.
    • Develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment.

Qualifications

    • Embrace an iterative, test-based design approach vs. a traditional linear waterfall approach
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs
    • Strong background in circuit design, including components, and mixed-signals design.
    • Previous experience working on BMS for automotive, grid storage, marine, or other large battery installations (>50kWh)
    • Design experience in power electronics, inverter design, and powertrain
    • Shop/lab fluency with test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests like cell and module cycling.
    • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as CAN, I2C, SPI, etc.
    • Comfortable with Altium or equivalent CAD tools.
    • Experience in EMI testing and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience with 3-phase power
    • Experience designing and testing for Marine Classification Society, UL, or MIL-STD regulated designs
$95,000 - $157,000 a year
