Title: Medical Assistant - Front Office
Company Background
Florence Health is a next-generation Primary Care Provider growing rapidly in towns and cities around the country. Named after the legendary nurse Florence Nightingale, Florence was founded in 2019 with a simple mission: to serve the patient, above all else. Florence is currently available to Medicare patients exclusively, and operates fully at risk for all of our patients' outcomes and spend, enabling our clinics to invest in the delivery of added benefits, services and staffing that are not possible in a fee-for-service environment.
Florence's relentless focus on patient satisfaction and care results, through our platform of medical professionals, staff, technology, and premium modern clinic spaces designed from the ground up, has earned us a reputation with our patients of going above and beyond on every facet of service delivery - from the front desk to the exam and follow-up experience, and everything in between.

The Medical Assistant – Front Office Role
Florence’s Care Teams include a doctor, a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, and support from registered nurses and medical assistants. Our providers serve as the primary medical provider for the Medicare patients we serve, providing longitudinal care and building meaningful relationships with the patients. This high-touch service creates trust and helps the patient understand and feel connected to his/her care plan. Furthermore, while the typical primary care panel in the U.S. is around 2,500 patients for a single physician, each provider’s panel at Florence is between 750-1,000 Medicare patients. This creates an opportunity to spend more time with patients, build deeper relationships, better execute/coordinate care plans, and achieve greater outcomes.
Each of Florence’s clinics has a Front Office - Medical Assistant, who is responsible for running the front office, from attending the front desk and assisting patients as they come in and out of the clinic, to helping them with any needs that come up before or after their provider visit. The Front Office - Medical Assistant role comes with a lot of responsibility with making sure everything in the clinic is maintained in good order at the excellent level our patients deserve, from supplies and equipment to the fixtures and furniture.
In addition to working with the providers and other medical assistants on site, the Front Office - Medical Assistant for each location will work hand-in-glove with Florence’s “virtual clinical staff” – our RNs and MAs who work remotely behind the scenes to support all patient scheduling, encounter prep, care coordination, and more for the location. The virtual clinical staff is a key part of our patient service model, helping support and triage all inbound/outbound patient phone calls, coordinate and follow through on referrals/study follow-ups ordered by our providers, deliver notifications to patients or providers or on-site staff as needed, and execute a variety of other complex data-driven tasks that are critical to making sure we provide the care our patients deserve.
This role requires warmth and passion for patient interactions, attention to detail and pride in presentation, and a teammate mindset in working with the provider, medical assistants, and the rest of the organization. Florence hires medical assistants for all of our staffing roles, since it is important to us that everybody that a patient interacts with on the phone or at the clinic always has a base medical knowledge and clinical experience.
The MA - Front Office will report directly to the Director of Clinics, for all locations.
