FRRC is looking for Fellows in each region where an Organizer is employed. The organizing team is responsible for increasing community awareness about the efforts of FRRC with a goal of creating active chapters of Returning Citizens, connecting Returning Citizens with the organization, and fostering relationships with faith communities. The Organizing Fellow will work directly with the Director of Programs. Fellows should be passionate about social justice work surrounding Returning Citizens and be able to perform grassroots community organizing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Attend different events and meetings to inform people about the services of FRRC.
    • Research and communicate with different local and faith organizations, and Returning Citizens that FRRC should partner with.
    • Establish initial contact with potential partners.
    • Schedule and hold 1:1’s to recruit Returning Citizens into their respective chapters.
    • Actively report contact information to the Director of Programs meeting scheduled deadlines.
    • Assist in grassroots efforts such as phone banking, door to door canvassing and tabling.
    • Be available 20-29 hours a week for work.
    • Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred or equivalent job related work experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • The Organizing Fellow will interact most frequently with the Director of  Programs and the Organizing team. In addition, this person will also interact frequently with FRRC members, community stakeholders, and coalition partners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to sit, bend, stand for long periods of time , climb a minimum of one flight of stairs and may occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, tablet, mobile and desktop telephone system.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
    • Ability to travel on occasion locally and regionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Office employees will normally work in an office environment (Orlando based HQ) with some time spent working in the field.
    • Remote employees will normally work in the field with some time spent working in the (Orlando based HQ) office.
    • Noise level is moderate, with some frequency of interruptions.
