About the Role
As an early member of our engineering team, you will significantly influence the technical direction of Flow. We are in search of a Senior/Staff Platform Engineer who is not only enthusiastic about designing, developing, and deploying robust platform solutions but also committed to ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our system. Your contributions will be foundational in driving Flow towards achieving its goals and making a big impact on the productivity of our product engineering team.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define clear requirements and translate them into scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Build foundational infrastructure, tooling, and automation
- Play a key role in architectural and systems-level decisions to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems, enabling product teams to release and scale their software reliably and predictably
- Drive breakthroughs in system throughput through the identification and elimination of bottlenecks
- Manage and optimize a multi-cloud, multi-region environment for efficient operation
- Help recruit, hire, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers
Ideal Background
- A minimum 10 years in platform or software engineering with a track record of building scalable solutions in engineering-driven organizations
- Deep understanding of the principles of ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and efficiency in distributed systems
- Experience administering cloud-based infrastructure (GCP and/or AWS)
- Experience troubleshooting production issues related to cloud infrastructure, configuration, monitoring, deployments, continuous integration and delivery
- A keen ability to balance elegant design with pragmatic tradeoffs, prioritizing continuous delivery of business value
- Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programming languages as required
- Experience building software in fast-moving startup environments
- Experience leading other engineers, either with direct management experience or a strong desire to take on such responsibilities
$180,000 - $250,000 a year
