About the Role

As a Facilities Technician, your primary role will be to ensure the proper maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of facilities. You will play a vital role in upholding compliance with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety. In addition, you will utilize trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks. You will also escort and supervise contractors while performing work as directed by the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

    • Respond and attend to repair requests.
    • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. 
    • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings. 
    • Support Facilities Engineering Lead in maintaining inventory, parts, and supplies as needed. 
    • Assure that each day’s activities and problems are communicated to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards. 
    • Display proficiency in any one of the following categories, above average skills in two more of the following categories, and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management. 
    • Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. 
    • Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and the complete and thorough clean up of the painting or repair area. 
    • Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. 
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Speak with others using clear and professional language. 
    • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. 
    • Identify deficiencies in building equipment and/or end-of-life periods and reports recommendation to Facilities Manager

Ideal Background

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • A minimum 3 years of relevant experience with building maintenance and repairs
    • Working knowledge of basic repairs and maintenance related to carpentry, hardware, plumbing and electrical required
    • Working skills in the following areas, including strong proficiency in at least one: air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry, vehicles, energy conservation, and building management 
    • Experience with Mechanical and Fire systems preferred
    • Experience working with CMMS or related work order management systems preferred
    • Experience working with G-Suite & Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) preferred
