The Commercial Associate will support the creation and implementation of key strategic outlooks, develop tools and analysis to secure new storage opportunities, and perform research and coordination around new global growth initiatives. 
The role will be responsible for working with Fluence Regional Growth teams, Fluence Deal Teams, and other key internal stakeholders to further our understanding of both the overall battery storage market and Fluence’s pipeline.    
The expectation for this role will that the individual can grow into the point he or she is leading several key processes within the company, which could include Fluence’s overall projection of the battery storage market, Fluence’s projection of medium to long battery system pricing, and global pipeline tracking. He or she will also support modeling of the project value, utilizing the latest power market and project finance understanding, and there is the potential to support and ultimately lead new global growth initiatives within the company as opportunities arise. The energy storage industry changes on a monthly basis – this role will be crucial to meeting our commercial objectives.  

This role will: 
- Research and build Fluence projection for the global battery storage market, including key segmentation by geography, customer type, application, and other
- Build and improve models for projecting medium-term battery system pricing
- Analyze Fluence’s global pipeline – assess monthly growth, key drivers, and then contribute to strategy for securing and closing new battery storage opportunities   
- Coordinate with Regional Growth teams to develop a detailed understanding of markets that can be articulated to Leadership
- Support the modeling of markets and relevant characteristics to optimize project value
- Communicate with key stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally across all Fluence teams, including commercial, product, regional sales, finance, and digital
- Support key global growth opportunities that may come in a timely manner
 
What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?  

- The preferred candidate should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree (business administration or similar) and at least 2-3 years of experience in energy with a proven aptitude for driving strategic efforts 
 - Demonstrated understanding of the energy industry 
-  Strong modeling and analytical capability – particularly with Microsoft Excel 
 - Background analyzing industry and market trends; ideally within the battery storage or renewable energy space 
- Strong commercial background, including the ability understand models of cash flow, IRR, and NPV for energy projects, ideally some experience with assessing pipeline and commercial opportunities
 - Fluent English language skills
