Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Construction Superintendents (building envelope) to fill 2 F/T vacancies in the Halifax and surrounding area (25 Neptune Crescent Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4P9).
The position of “Construction Superintendent” is a skilled role, in which the Construction Superintendent provides the overall on-site administrative and technical management for a project, while ensuring the total constructive efforts are in accordance with the plans and specifications and are
communicated to all parties involved.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements
• Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control
• Prepare reports, purchase general and specialized equipment, materials or business services, supervise workers and projects
• Recruit, hire and supervise staff and/or volunteers
• Read blueprint, schemas and drawings
• Help with scheduling and workflow
• Maintain inventory of supplies
• Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures, maintain inventory
• of equipment
• Manage difficult situations with customers
• Monitor safety conditions
• Maintain on-call status 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
Qualifications:
• 5+ years Previous experience in a Construction environment/Roofing knowledge is required
• Completion of Secondary (High) school is preferred
• Ability to speak English

• Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to pay strong attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Form and maintain customer relations, in person, through email, and over the phone
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, stay organized, and perform in a deadline-oriented environment

• Strong problem-solving skills
• Work independently as well as in a team-based environment
• Work in a fast-paced environment
• Display strong knowledge of relevant computer applications (Microsoft Office)
• First Aid Certificate, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
Terms of Employment:
• Salary range $88,500-$92,000 per annum
• Benefits include: Extended Medical, Dental, Vision, Accidental Death & Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, as well as optional Registered Retirement Savings Plan & Deferred Profit Sharing Plan with company contribution up to $2500 annually.
• 3 weeks (15 days) for vacation per year
