Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting Roofer Apprentices (commercial) to fill 10+ F/T vacancies in British Columbia Branches including Vancouver (19175 22nd Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia, V3S 3S6) Victoria (Unit 1 6836 Kirkpatrick Cres, Saanichton, British Columbia, V8M 1Z9) and Kelowna ( Unit #D -1 8775 Jim Bailey Crescent, Kelowna, BC, V4V 2L7). Other locations across British Columbia will be required based on awarded projects.

The position of “Roofer Apprentice” is a skilled labour role, in which the Roofer apprentice works within a team, reporting to the site foreman to lay a variety of roofs on industrial, institutional and commercial buildings.

Responsibilities include:

• Install, repair, maintain and replace single ply roofing systems usingmaterials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel

• Install, repair, maintain and replace Modified Bitumen (Mod-Bit) roofing,

• Install, repair maintain and replace single ply roofing systems, usingwaterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphaltcompositions.

• Ensure roof membrane is protected from weather conditions such as rainand snow.

• Remove foreign debris from roof to create a safe place to work.

• Use of hand tools and power tools for installation.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years' roofing (commercial) experience

• Intermediate English or French skills

Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to work and communicate with others

• Ability to install all kinds of buildup roofing systems (including trusses)

• Ability to work at heights

• Ability to learn and obey our extensive company safety policy

Terms of Employment:

• Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week. Overtime after 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, paid at time and a half. Double time after 12 hours a day.;

• $29.00 - $32.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (starting wage for meeting minimum requirements is $29.00, wage scale increases based on additional experience). Salary increase is dependent on annual review;

• Benefits include: Extended Medical, Dental, Vision, Accidental Death & Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, as well as optional Registered Retirement Savings Plan & Deferred Profit Sharing Plan with company contribution up to $2500 annually.

•4% vacation pay on all earnings, 4% stat holiday pay on all earnings except for overtime and double time pay.
