Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Sheet Metal Workers NOC 7233 (commercial) to fill 5+ F/T vacancies in the Winnipeg and Brandon branches (1390 Spruce Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 2V7 & 1850 18th Street North, Brandon, MB, R7C 1A5) Other locations across Manitoba will be required based on awarded projects.

The position of “Sheet Metal Worker” is a skilled labour role, in which the Sheet Metal Worker works within a team, reporting to the site foreman to lay a variety of roofs and siding on industrial, institutional and commercial buildings.


Responsibilities

• Installation of Architectural Sheet Metal and Architectural Cladding applications, including Steel Roofing and Wall finishes, Composite Aluminum Wall finishes, Architectural Cladding Systems, Composite Aluminum Wall panels and Custom Zinc or Copper applications;
• Set up and use rigging and hoisting equipment;
• Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment;
• Install Architectural Sheet Metal products according to specifications and building codes;
• Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to work sites and experience in using powered lift equipment.
• Provide training to more junior level, less experience workers.


Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' Sheet Metal (commercial) experience OR completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program OR Journeyman/woman certificate OR Journeyman/woman certificate equivalent
• Intermediate English or French skills
• This is a unionized position; if hired, all candidates will be required to become a member (if not already)


Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to work and communicate with others
• Ability to install all types of metal roofing, wall cladding and composite aluminum panels
• Ability to instruct apprentices and new workers
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to learn and follow our extensive company safety policy


Terms of Employment

• Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week; Overtime after 8 hours a day and 10 hours a day on weekends, double time on holidays
• $31.70- $41.00 per hour, depending on qualifications (starting wage for meeting minimum requirements is $31.70, wage scale increases based on additional experience). Salary increase is dependent on annual review
• Benefits are provided as per the union.
• 6% vacation pay on all earnings, 4.5% stat holiday pay on all earnings
