Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Glazier Apprentices (commercial) to fill 5 F/T vacancies in the Winnipeg and Brandon branches (1390 Spruce Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 2V70K1 & 1850 18th Street North, Brandon, MB, R7C 1A5) Other locations across Manitoba will be required based on awarded projects.

The position of “Glazier Apprentice” is a skilled trade role, in which the Glazier Apprentice works within a team, reporting to the Site Foreman to glass and glazing products in commercial, industrial and institutional structures.

Responsibilities include:

• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine type and thickness of glass, frame, installation procedure and materials required

• Measure and mark glass and cut glass using glass cutters or computerized cutter

• Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products on walls, ceilings or exteriors of building

• Install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in industrial, institutional and commercial buildings

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-2 years' glazing (commercial) experience

• Intermediate English or French skills

Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to work and communicate with others

• Ability to work at heights

• Ability to learn and obey our extensive company safety policy

Terms of Employment:

•Permanent full time at 30- 40 hours a week. Overtime after 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, paid a time and half;

• $24.00 - $29.50 per hour, depending on qualifications (starting wage for meeting minimum requirements is $24.00, wage scale increases based on additional experience). Salary increase is dependent on annual review;

• Benefits include: Extended Medical, Dental, Vision, Accidental Death & Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, as well as optional Registered Retirement Savings Plan & Deferred Profit Sharing Plan with company contribution up to $2500 annually.

•4% vacation pay on regular earnings, 4% stat holiday pay on all earnings except for overtime and double time pay.
