As Performance Coach at Fnatic, you will help drive peak performance from the premiere team with the Fnatic esports stable, our LEC League of Legends team in Berlin. We're looking to put in place the support structures necessary to drive a positive, high performance culture, and maximise the potential of our talented players and coaching staff.
The ideal candidate will immerse themselves as a critical part of the team, working closely with team coaches and management onsite to make the people around them better every day. We're looking for someone with an established performance background coupled with an innovative mindset and curiosity to find new solutions and performance approaches. This is a challenging role that will require you to build strong relationships with high-performance talent, creating a balanced environment that helps our pros become their best!
Your mission is to:
- Devise and rollout a tailored performance plan and structure for Fnatic's LEC League of Legends team
- Work closely with team coaches and management to proactively address issues and drive continual performance improvements
- With support of Fnatic's Fitness Coach, create and implement a physical fitness programme, devising an appropriate schedule and leading training sessions
- Work closely with the Team Chef to create a nutrition plan
- Create individual performance plans for each player to improve mental strength and overall ability to cope with the rigours of professional competition
- Hold regular 1on1 and team development sessions with team members to gather feedback and drive performance improvement
- Build unity and activate players away from the game environment through team building activities
- Act as a mentor and provide pastoral support to players when needed
- Provide weekly progress reports to senior Pro-Gaming management
- Work closely with Performance Director to further strengthen and develop Fnatic’s performance department more broadly
- Ad-hoc requests as determined by Performance Director
We're looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Sports Psychology, Mental and Physical training
- Demonstrable experience implementing a performance structure in a team environment
- Extensive individual and team coaching experience
- Understanding of nutrition principles, diet planning, and sleep hygiene
- Leadership qualities and ability to help individuals from different backgrounds work together
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, additional languages highly desirable
- Sense of calm combined with strong conflict management skills
- Passion for, and understanding of professional esports environments desirable
- Proficient user of Google and Microsoft suites
- Ability to work under pressure and work to tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel internationally with the team if required
