Te Tūranga – About the role
Are you ready to step up and lead the charge in keeping Foodstuffs North Island connected and running like a well-oiled machine? As our Network Operations Team Lead, you’ll be at the helm of a high-performing, customer-focused IT Operations team that’s passionate about delivering seamless, secure, and scalable infrastructure services. From guiding your team through daily challenges to shaping our long-term network roadmap, you'll be driving operational excellence and ensuring our business stays ahead of the curve.
You'll inspire a culture where collaboration thrives, innovation is encouraged, and service is second to none. With a sharp eye on performance, capacity, and cost-efficiency, you’ll partner with key stakeholders across the business to deliver exceptional results — on time and in full. If you're a natural leader who loves solving problems, streamlining processes, and building strong technical capability, this could be your next big adventure.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading a dynamic team to deliver top-notch Network Operations services, ensuring high availability and performance across FSNI.
- Owning and executing the network roadmap, including lifecycle planning, service improvements, and continuous innovation.
- Managing day-to-day incidents and outages like a pro — coordinating with internal and external teams to resolve issues swiftly.
- Championing reporting, performance metrics, and capacity planning to ensure services meet and exceed expectations.
- Partnering closely with the Project Delivery Office to align resources, support initiatives, and drive business value.

He kōrero mōu - About you
You’re a proven leader in the infrastructure and operations space, with a solid track record of driving high-performing teams and managing vendors with confidence. People trust your judgement, value your input, and appreciate your ability to bring others on the journey—whether it’s your team, senior leaders, or strategic partners. You thrive in fast-paced environments, and you're not afraid to challenge the status quo to find smarter, more effective ways of working.
With strong commercial acumen, a curious mindset, and a collaborative style, you bring both strategic thinking and hands-on know-how to the table. You communicate clearly, plan effectively, and know how to keep things moving — even when the pressure is on. If you’re someone who leads with purpose, inspires others, and always keeps the customer in focus, we’d love to meet you.
You’ll bring with you:
- A strong background in infrastructure and operational leadership, including managing diverse teams and external vendors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and influence across all levels.
- Solid experience in infrastructure architecture and operations within mid-to-large organisations — bonus points if it’s in retail or customer-centric sectors.
- Commercial savvy and negotiation skills, with a sharp focus on ROI, service quality, and business impact.
- A naturally curious mindset, a drive for continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a 24x7x365 operational environment.
- Hands-on experience with vendors and technologies such as Fortinet, Aruba, Cisco, Arista, Citrix, SD-WAN, Spine-Leaf topologies, and NetScalers.
- Experience rolling out BYOD and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions would be a bonus.
