Ko waimātou – About us

Liquorland is a specialist liquor retailer, with over 170 stores nationwide. We are focused on becoming the most successful, sustainable and responsible liquor retailer in New Zealand through delivering New Zealand’s best retail liquor experience – we are great at what we do but there is so much more to achieve!

We have an opportunity within our IT team to ensure our customers and franchisees have a great experience using our technology and systems.

Te Tūranga – About the role

As our Helpdesk Engineer, you’ll be the go-to person for our Liquorland Support Centre and retail stores when technical issues arise. Whether it’s a glitchy POS system, a stubborn printer, or a software mystery, you’ll provide first-line support with a mix of technical know-how, clear communication, and a customer-first approach. You’ll work with a wide range of technologies — from desktops and mobile devices to business applications and networks — helping keep our teams running smoothly and confidently.

In this role, you will:
-       Provide effective Level 1 IT support across software, hardware, networking, and user access.
-       Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues with a focus on quick, practical solutions.
-       Deliver clear guidance and training to users, regardless of their technical background.
-       Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to improving our self-service knowledge base.
-       Support the setup and deployment of IT equipment for new store openings.

Ngā painga - What we offer

Our offices are newly built custom design spaces – with access to an in-house supermarket, a susidised in-house café, and a bountiful supply of free carparking.

We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits:
-      Free carparking -we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including 36 free EV plugs
-      Southern cross health insurance and 5% discount at our retail stores
-      Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday, long service leave
-      Inhouse learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes).

He kōrero mōu - About you

You’re a natural problem-solver with a knack for making tech work — and work well. You’re just as comfortable digging into SQL queries to pinpoint an issue as you are explaining the fix to someone who’s not technical. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly when priorities change, and bring a mix of curiosity, initiative, and collaboration to everything you do.

Here’s what you’ll bring to the team:
-       Solid understanding of networking (IP/DNS/DHCP/WAN, managed firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs & VLANs).
-       Ability to investigate issues via SQL queries and propose smart solutions or escalate when needed.
-       Basic Office 365 admin skills and confidence liaising with 3rd parties to resolve issues.
-       Strong communication skills — you listen well, explain clearly, and write with accuracy.
-       A proactive, can-do approach with the curiosity to keep learning and improving.

Experience awesome. Achieve Awesome. Be awesomely you.
