Formidable is a Seattle, Denver, and London-based boutique engineering consultancy and open source software organization, specializing in React.js, React Native, GraphQL, Node.js, and the architecture of large-scale JavaScript applications. We are a team of experts working together to handle the toughest software problems. We build products for some of the world's biggest companies while helping their internal teams develop the skillset to build and maintain thoughtful and scalable systems.

We are looking for a Cloud Architect to join the Formidable team. You will help clients build cloud platforms at-scale, assisting in every part of the process, from concept to production. The cloud landscape is continuously evolving, with new tools and services being released daily. You know how to distinguish hype from reality and are comfortable making recommendations that best suit our clients’ needs.

Formidable’s growing platform team has experience with all major cloud providers. You are comfortable leading teams and mentoring engineers in core concepts like high-availability, scalability, and monitoring. You know architecture is more than just drawing boxes, and are excited to dive in and lead by getting your hands dirty. We're a JavaScript-first consultancy and you'll help engineers implement your vision using Node.js on the server.

You will be joining a collaborative team that works together to solve exciting software problems, and fosters a culture of supportive learning and knowledge exchange, both within our office and throughout the greater JavaScript community. Working with other Formidables, you are guaranteed to stay on top of industry trends and constantly cultivate your skill set.

You have:
• Experience architecting and building cloud solutions on AWS / Azure / GCP
• Understanding of high availability, monitoring, and reporting, incorporating them into each project from the very beginning
• Confidence in picking the right tool for the job (Kubernetes / Docker / FaaS / Bare Metal)
• Experience building production systems from start to finish; beginning by identifying business needs and taking the project through to its launch
• Expertise in all things JavaScript
• Experience building production Node.js systems at scale
• Comfortable communicating architectural concepts to clients and team members alike
• Experience with Git and code collaboration in teams
• Dedication to diversity and inclusivity in the industry
• Experience leading and mentoring teams
Inclusion is one of our core values. We don’t discriminate by race, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States. We are not offering USA working visa sponsorship at this time.
