Reports to: Senior Field Organizer 

Job Summary
For Our Future Wisconsin seek a motivated, outgoing, and results-driven intern to support our volunteer efforts in Wisconsin. You will work to engage area residents and activists on local and national causes, candidates and campaigns that matter to them. Candidates should have familiarity with the Wisconsin area, experience working in political campaigns or volunteer environments, experience recruiting and working with volunteers, basic digital skills, and access to reliable transportation and a working laptop or tablet.  

This is a temporary position through at least July 14th, 2022, with an opportunity to extend

Essential Functions

    • Confidently navigate and utilize VAN, ensuring timely and accurate data entry
    • Be well-versed in ThruText, ThruTalk, and other constituent systems
    • Ensure the knowledge of  certain policy initiatives to make them digestible for the average person
    • Create a myriad of connections with grassroots organizations and policymakers
    • Produce attractive event graphics to disseminate via social media
    • Create and provide various innovative trainings for volunteers
    • Participate in virtual and in person events focused on grassroots community empowerment
    • Regularly participate in text and phone banking events
    • Recruit volunteers
    • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Skills and Qualifications

    • Interested in public policy, politics, campaign work, issue advocacy, journalism, and/or related fields
    • A high degree of professionalism, respect, and maturity
    • Ability to uphold an all-inclusive environment
    • Basic computer literacy and database skills necessary, access to a reliable portable computer preferred

Expected Hours of Work

    • This internship requires an approximate total of 10 hours of availability per week 
    • Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights
    • Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies will not be affected by this policy. 
Work Environment
Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future’s canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially distanced office. When the governments allow door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority. When the canvassing is allowed, the work environment will vary but work will typically be performed outdoors. Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly with community partners face-to-face or in a group setting and may also be expected to interact face-to-face with volunteers or voters. 

Health and Safety
For Our Future Action Fund is committed to the health and safety of our colleagues, candidates and communities we serve. A condition of employment is that all employees are “up to date” with their COVID-19 vaccines, which means: (1) fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and (2) once eligible, boosted with a single dose of a COVID-19 booster shot. Any offers of employment will be contingent upon the individual proving they are fully vaccinated and boosted (if eligible) against COVID-19. Additional requirements include sharing your vaccine record in the employer’s vaccine record tool, and may include mask wearing and social distancing. Requirements may change in the future with evolving public health guidance and applicable laws. 

Additional exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement are available for roles with a work location in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia in accordance with applicable state law. 

The COVID-19 vaccination requirement does not apply to roles with a work location in Montana or Tennessee. All qualified applicants for roles with a work location in Montana or Tennessee will be considered regardless of vaccination status as required by applicable state or local law.
