For Our Future recognizes a staff bargaining unit, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 2304, a labor union. This position is NOT included in the For Our Future bargaining unit.
About the Role
For Our Future Nevada is seeking an Organizing Director to manage our internal paid canvass and organizing programs across the state. The Organizing Director will collaborate with other department directors and key partners to implement campaign plans, and develop and execute a strategic statewide issue advocacy and electoral program around core issue-areas: shared economic prosperity, strong public education, fighting climate change, and social and racial justice. They’ll serve as a coach to develop staff and advance programs across regions.
This position requires a commitment to teamwork as well as creativity and flexibility due to the fast-paced nature and mission of our organization. The ideal candidate will have initiative, strong communications, and cross-collaboration skills to cut across silos to facilitate a training program, ensure information sharing between partners and allies, achieve program deliverables, possess a keen attention to detail, and finally, a have passion for progressive causes and a commitment to advance organizational interests, values, and priorities.
This position runs through at least December 12, 2024.
- Lead a results-driven statewide team of field and organizing professionals.
- Oversee implementation of all in-state field programs, works with state leadership to evaluate the impact of programs and ensure innovation as necessary to ensure success.
- Regularly report state qualitative and quantitative accomplishments to the State Director, National and in-state and National stakeholders.
- Set, meet, and exceed benchmarks and goals for organization building, voter contact, grassroots engagement, and GOTV.
- Design and standardize best practices for data management using the organization’s voter file software, CRM, and other platforms.
- Establish a strong professional culture within the field team, focused on accountability, specific goals, innovation, and a sense of purpose.
- Recruit, hire, train and manage field staff to achieve their objectives.
- Manage the field program budget and logistics in collaboration with the State Director and the National Operations Director.
- Conduct regular turf visits and canvasser shadowing new canvassers/organizers.
- Provide guidance when evaluating events being proposed by organizers as well as monitor progress, facilitate logistics, and shepherd community community engagement and organization building events to completion in coordination with Communications Department.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Skills and Qualifications
- 4+ cycles of progressive political campaign experience, with at least 3 cycles of field experience.
- A firm understanding of Nevada's legislative process, political landscape, and the path to power in the state.
- At least 1 cycle of management required and some Statewide or National experience, preferred.
- Dedication to grassroots, local organizing and empowering state/local organizations to lead our work.
- Ability to develop short and long-term statewide plans, set objectives and metrics, track progress toward achieving objectives, and align those strategies with other progressive efforts in state.
- Experience in recruiting, hiring and managing staff from all backgrounds, team building, and developing talent within an organization. Competency with, and commitment to leading with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Must be able to manage staff remotely.
- Experience in building meaningful and valuable coalitions and gaining buy-in from organizations or individuals with a wide variety of goals and interests.
- Experience managing work across multiple internal departments for statewide issue advocacy or electoral campaigns.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective and successful metrics-based and data-driven campaigns, including targeting, voter contact tactics, GOTV and best practices with each.
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid driver's license/insurance/registration, and clean driving record for at least 1 year, per organizations drivers policy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to write compelling program reports.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate conflict and work toward resolution required.
- Strong knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN, required.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel and Google Suite platforms is required; and access to a reliable laptop is preferred
- Willingness to adapt and take initiative while juggling several priorities that may change quickly. Multi-tasker with excellent time management skills and ability to hit deadlines.
The compensation for this position may be based on experience and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.

Expected Hours of Work
- Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Employees are required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take off during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
So long as it is safe and appropriate to continue door-to-door and site-based canvassing, it will be a high priority. Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. Overseeing canvassing is considered an essential function of this job. This position is expected to interact regularly face-to-face with voters, volunteers or community partners. If state and government stay-at-home orders, phased reopening orders, or other factors related to the COVID-19 virus (or any other reason) limit For Our Future’s ability to engage safely in in-person work, employees may be assigned other duties to be conducted from their homes.
