Job Summary
For Our Future Pennsylvania seeks a full-time Deputy State Director to manage the day-to-day activities of multiple departments within the organization and assist the State Director in directing the implementation of the program. The Deputy State Director will be responsible for helping with the development and execution of strategic statewide issue advocacy and electoral programs by driving state-specific issues and electoral organizing around our core issue areas. They will be directly responsible for the management of department heads focused on running the For Our Future’s organizing programs. The Deputy State Director will report directly to the State Director.
This position runs through at least November 11, 2022

Essential Functions

    • Works collaboratively with the state director to lead a results-driven organizing program.
    • Manages the day-to-day work of the program and operations departments at the direction of the state director; this includes the direct management of department heads.
    • Supports our work at partner tables to build robust and effective strategies that work toward issue advocacy and electoral success in 2022.
    • Aids in the development of robust programming designed to provide expertise and resources to partners to engage our broad constituency of impacted communities, and win progressive victories.
    • Implements rigorous systems to meet assigned goals associated with metrics.
    • Evaluates the impact of all in-state For Our Future programs, and ensures innovation as necessary, to guarantee success.
    • Assists in maintaining the relationships with partnering organizations, policymakers, opinion leaders, funding partners, and other community leaders.
    • Collaborates with senior staff to ensure that internal HR and Operations systems are in place which meet the highest standards of professionalism and rigor.

Skills and Qualifications

    • 4-6 years experience in electoral and/or non-profit work.
    • At least 5 cycles of competitive field experience.
    • Exceptional managerial experience of  a department or organization.
    • Experience managing a team of more than 10 staff members.
    • Strong knowledge of Vote builder/VANStrong knowledge of Microsoft office suite, basic computer literacy, and database skills.Strong coaching skills and abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to successfully relate to voters and volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds.
    • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
    • Superior verbal and written communication.
    • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

    • This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

The salary for this position is based on experience and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.

Expected Hours of Work

    • Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.
    • Employees will be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies will not be affected by this policy.
