JOB SUMMARY
For Our Future seeks a Compliance Manager to lead our campaign finance reporting for the 2022 election cycle. The National Compliance Manager will work closely with our legal counsel and compliance vendors to ensure all of our programs are reported accurately to the proper federal and state agencies. This role works closely with our program and state teams ensuring cross department communication at every level of the organization to support our complex reporting needs. We seek a passionately detailed leader to take on this role in this crucial election year.

This is a full-time position through January 31, 2023.

Essential Functions

    • Manage reporting of all contributions and expenditures required by campaign finance law, including all required disclosures to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and state agencies as required.
    • Coordinate the tracking of and reporting process for all paid engagement and electoral outreach activities.
    • Coordinate with Legal, Operations, Digital, Field staff and other compliance personnel to meet the 24-Hour and 48-Hour federal reporting requirements and reconcile that reporting with subsequent periodic federal reports.
    • Coordinate campaign finance reporting review schedule with external legal and compliance vendors, and FOF Ops and legal staff, including compiling edits and questions, and leading monthly reporting review calls with the team.
    • Work in coordination with a compliance consultant to implement a system for reporting personnel actuals, training staff, and ensuring that each program’s costs are actualized on a monthly basis for periodic federal and state reports.
    • Implement a system for tracking program scoring by state in order to track employee time by month.
    • Track internal and external reporting of in-kind contributions.
    • Communicate daily with campaigns team and operations staff about expenditures disseminated by FOF and FOFAF.
    • Research reporting requirements for new areas of activity as needed, draft registrations and other necessary paperwork to ensure compliance with state laws.
    • Oversee state lobbying reporting, training state staff, and working with Operations Director and state leadership to ensure all deadlines are adhered to.
    • Maintain FOF Reporting Calendar, ensuring all other federal and state reporting deadlines are met, working in coordination with compliance consultants, Operations team, and legal counsel.

Skills and Qualifications

    • 2 cycles of progressively responsible compliance, finance, and operations experience or equivalent preferred, ideally in a 501c4/PAC affiliated organizational model or other complex operating environment;
    • Proven track record and experience with FEC reporting; experience with NGP highly preferred;
    • Strong Excel skills with a track record of using complex formulas for math or budgeting
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams to develop and implement systems and processes and tracking;
    • Demonstrated experience with compliance, administrative support and strategic decision making in a complex organizational environment;
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of collaboration, flexibility, and attention to detail;
    • Passion for progressive politics and issues.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • This position is based in our Washington, DC headquarters, which is currently remote and will have a remote option through at least December 2022. Employees will therefore work and interact primarily in a virtual environment for the duration of this temporary position, unless extended. Employees may be required to periodically travel to and/or work out of office locations in Washington, DC or at our state offices around the country.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    • Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time Monday thru Friday, however employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and nights.
    • Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take more than 2 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.

The salary for this position is based on experience and comes with a comprehensive benefits package
