The Role:
The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company which includes financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.  The position will also ensure a there is an adequate system of controls to mitigate risks, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reporting financial results, and ensure that the company’s accounting procedures and reporting methods conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

What You’ll Do/Own:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting organization
    • Manage the preparation of all GAAP financial reporting
    • Support the  analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual results against budget
    • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax and reporting requirements
    • Manage the annual financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
    • Oversee the cap table and associated valuation reporting
    • Manage compliance with all bank agreements
    • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives
    • Be the expert company expert on all technical accounting matters
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
    • Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff

More about you:

    • Degree in Accounting
    • Five (5) to Ten (10) years experience in a mid to senior level finance or accounting position, and a CPA (strongly preferred)
    • Big 4 experience (preferred)
    • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
    • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (NetSuite preferred)
    • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
    • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
