We are seeking a tech lead for our localization and mapping team to lead the development of the large-scale data processing pipelines for building maps and build core algorithms for pose estimation using a variety of sensors.  Our localization and mapping team will develop HD map augmentation, layering, and validation and ensure efficient map serving to the AV stack modules. 

Through effective collaboration with our engineering disciplines, you will guide our efforts to build improved localization and mapping for our autonomous vehicles from design all the way through to production. We are looking for top talent that shares our passion and wants to be part of a fast-moving and highly execution-oriented team.


    • Research and develop algorithms for localization, mapping, state estimation, and odometry based on multiple input modalities such as inertial sensors, one or more cameras, GNSS, and other sensors
    • Build metric maps and point clouds using lidar, imagery, and other sensor data
    • Develop offline test infrastructure for localization algorithm assessment
    • Invent, design, and develop offline algorithms to process large scale sensor data to produce maps used for pose estimation
    • Improve online localization performance and accuracy for better robustness and redundancy
    • Analyze and architect safety and redundancy in the localization system
    • Research and implement automatic map maintenance and update over time.
    • Invent, design, and develop real-time pose estimation and inertial navigation algorithms that run on the autonomous vehicle
    • Analyze and architect safety and redundancy in the localization system


    • 7+ years of industry work experience, including mapping in a real-world context.
    • Solid knowledge of SLAM - frontend and backend, point cloud registration, GNSS/INS
    • Deep experience with computer vision and computer vision sensors including Camera, LiDAR, GPS, and IMU
    • Experience with C++ build systems, such as Bazel and Cmake and Docker
    • Solid technical foundation in CPU and GPU architectures, containers, and numeric libraries
    • Experience using software project management software, such as Jira, Confluence, etc
    • Experience creating intuitive visualizations for spatial data
    • Proven system integration and software architecture skills
