Position Summary

We are seeking full-time Genetic Counselors with experience in general adult genetics, pediatrics and rare disease to join Genome Medical’s multidisciplinary care delivery team of Genetic Counselors, Medical Geneticists, and Genetic Counseling Assistants. With the support of digital platform, AI capabilities and dynamic cross-functional teams, our genetic counselors can work at the top of their scope of practice with the luxury of working from home, while providing services to patients across all 50 states via telemedicine.

This role is 100% clinical with 30 patient care hours per week for a 1.0 FTE. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts. We would highly prefer the ideal candidate be able to work in the Mountain or Pacific time zone. Candidate must also be able to work at least 3 hours per week after 4pm. The 3 hours would be a part of the 8 hour shift and not separate. 

This position reports to one of our Directors of GC services and will perform activities consistent with the position of genetic counselor.

Responsibilities & Requirements

    • Responsibilities:
    • Provide genetic counseling for patients, including education, a comprehensive risk assessment, psychological support, genetic testing oversight and documentation.
    • Analyze medical/scientific literature, and available clinical genetics standard of care guidelines, and effectively communicate this knowledge across the organization and externally to patients and providers.
    • Collaborate and share knowledge with a diverse team of experienced genetic counselors in a supportive, team-based environment.
    • Participate in weekly clinical team meetings.
    • Willingness to see healthy screening patients, which could involve counseling for hereditary cancer, cardiac, and pharmacogenetic variants.
    • Participate in journal club and case conferences.
    • Minimal travel required.
    • Availability to participate in genetic counseling student clinical rotations if interested.
    • Requirements:
    •  0-5 years of experience in clinical genetics, with the main area of clinical experience or interest in adult and pediatric general genetics (rare disease experience preferred).
    • ABGC certified and licensed in the home state (if applicable (multiple state licenses are a plus).  New graduates must have board certification at the time of application.
    • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) skills and ability to collaboratively engage with all customers, patients, and teammates to work towards dynamic solutions.
    • Must be detail-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated and technology competent.
    • Strong commitment to the vision and mission of Genome Medical.
    • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new specialties as required by the changing needs of the business.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
    • Mountain or Pacific time zone preferred.
    • Home internet connection with appropriate office space for patient care service deliver.
$85,000 - $105,000 a year
