Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve.
We are looking for a Preschool Teacher with a background in and dedication for Student Support and Wellbeing as well as German Language Support.
The advertised role is a full-time position with 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the Language and Student Support and Wellbeing Program
- Assessing students language development and wellbeing, using a ranges of diagnostic tools
- Utilizing a variety of methodologies, strategies and curriculum resources to support language teaching and learning
- Working directly with children to provide support in the areas of language learning and wellbeing
- Monitor, evaluate and document each student's progress utilizing appropriate measurements, assessment devices and recording documentation
- Facilitating and participating in transition meetings
- Professional communication with parents
- Providing support and sharing information with appropriate members of staff on children’s learning needs
- Collaboration with teachers in the area of student wellbeing and language support
- Networking with other professionals in the fields of Language and Educational Support
- Supporting policy writing, and recording documentation in the field of expertise
- Supporting designing and planning staff professional development in line with classroom pedagogical needs
- Actively participate in the school development, best practices and standards, curriculum and pedagogy
Aufgaben
- Planung, Entwicklung, Durchführung und Evaluierung des Konzepts für Sprachförderung und Wohlbefinden der Schülerinnen und Schüler
- Bewertung der Sprachentwicklung und des Wohlbefindens der Schülerinnen und Schüler unter Verwendung diverser Diagnoseinstrumente
- Einsatz von verschiedenen Methoden, Strategien und Lehrplanressourcen zur Unterstützung des Sprachunterrichts und -lernens
- Direkte Arbeit mit den Kindern, um sie in den Bereichen Spracherwerb und Wohlbefinden zu unterstützen
- Überwachen, Bewerten und Dokumentieren der Fortschritte jedes einzelnen Schülers unter Verwendung geeigneter Messungen, Beurteilungsinstrumente und Aufzeichnungsunterlagen
- Teilnahme an Übergangstreffen
- Professionelle Elternkommunikation
- Austausch von Informationen über die Lernbedürfnisse der Kinder mit den zuständigen Mitarbeitenden und gegenseitige Unterstützung
- Zusammenarbeit mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen zum Thema Wohlbefinden der Schülerinnen und Schüler und Sprachförderung
- Vernetzung mit anderen Fachleuten in den Bereichen Sprache und pädagogische Förderung
- Unterstützung bei der Erstellung von Richtlinien und der Dokumentation im Fachgebiet
- Unterstützung bei der Gestaltung und Planung von beruflichen Weiterbildungsmassnahmen fuer das Vorschulpersonal in Übereinstimmung mit den pädagogischen Anforderungen im Unterricht
- Aktive Beteiligung an der Schulentwicklung sowie an der Weiterentwicklung bewährter Verfahren und Standards, am Lehrplan und an der Pädagogik
Requirements
- Appropriate experience and teaching qualification
- Qualifications and experience in the field of language learning and/or educational support
- Experience or knowledge of Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is an advantage.
- Articulate and effective written and oral communication in German and English language, as the medium of instruction is in German language
- previous teaching experience in a Preschool or Kindergarten setting: knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the Reggio Emilia philosophy is desirable
- experience in teaching hands-on and inquiry lead approaches as well as in a play-based curriculum
- Enthusiastic and passionate when working with children, alert and responsive to their needs and interests, modelling and supporting inquiry and play based learning
- Patient, resourceful, observant and creative personality

Anforderungen
- Angemessene Erfahrung und Lehrbefähigung
- Qualifikationen und Erfahrung im Bereich des Sprachenlernens und/oder der Lernförderung
- Erfahrungen oder Kenntnisse im Bereich des mehrstufigen Unterstützungssystem (Multi Tiered System of Support - MTSS) sind von Vorteil.
- Ausdrucksstarke und effektive schriftliche und mündliche Kommunikation in deutscher wie auch englischer Sprache, da die Unterrichtssprache Deutsch ist
- Unterrichtserfahrung in einer Vorschule oder einem Kindergarten: Kenntnisse des International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme und der Reggio Emilia Philosophie sind wünschenswert
- Erfahrung im Unterrichten von praktischen und forschenden Ansätzen sowie in einem spielbasierten Lehrplan

Our School
The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates.
Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.
Children aged 2 years onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups.
