Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members. In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore’s largest nature reserve.

Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator
Start Date – 1 August 2024

To provide and develop a gifted and talented programme that meets the diverse needs of GESS students. The coordinator will ensure an effective programme is developed and implemented that includes a curriculum, assessment and entrance requirements, educational plans for specific students, core program integration and after school learning opportunities, events, and student participation in competitions. They will collaborate closely with the directors and other faculty to drive the programme forward. 

This position will be combination of teaching and as a program coordinator.

Key Accountabilities

Program Development and Management
· Lead in accordance with the Leadership Standards of GESS.
· Lead the creation and ongoing development of a Gifted and Talented Program. Coordinate with faculty to integrate the Gifted and Talented Program into the core programmes and after-school learning opportunities.
· Ensure there is an effective programme and curriculum established in the core subjects for students in upper primary to high school.
· Establish clear entrance, assessment and reporting practices for the programme.
· Establish a process for individual educational plans for gifted and talented students with close collaboration and involvement from teachers.
· Establish after-school learning opportunities, with mentoring, and competition preparation.
· Establish GESS’s involvement in a range of competitions suitable for gifted and talented students.

Community Partnership and Engagement
· Work collaboratively with the Directors of Primary, Middle and High School, middle management and other faculty to support the development, community involvement and marketing of the gifted and talented programme.
· Coordinate activities and the delivery of a rich events programme that supports learning opportunities for gifted and talented students, including field trips, guest speakers/workshops, presentations and celebrations.
· To build and leverage links with like-minded organisations in business, industry and higher education both in Singapore and the wider region.
· Promote communication both internally and externally through the extensive communication channels by showcasing ongoing projects and celebrating the creativity of the community.

Student Development
· Through leadership of the team ensure there is a suitable curriculum, assessment, core and after-school learning opportunities, and participation in competitions for gifted and talented students.
· Track assessment data to ensure gifted and talented students are progressing and learning.
· Teach lessons for gifted and talented students.
· Mentor and guide students in the gifted and talented programme.

Operational, Monitoring and Evaluation
· Establish metrics to measure the success and impact of the Gifted and Talented Program. Regularly assess and report on the progress and outcomes of these initiatives.
· Manage related budgets in line with GESS’s processes and policies.

Professional Development and Training
· Provide training and resources to parents, staff and students to enhance their understanding and involvement in the Gifted and Talented Program.

Additional Responsibilities
· All other responsibilities and tasks as deemed appropriate by SLT and the Line Manager.

Experience and Qualifications
- Recognised teaching qualification (minimum B.Ed or PGCE equivalent)
- At least 4 years teaching experience
- Knowledge, understanding and teaching experience of the IB Primary Years Programme 
- Appropriate Health and Safety training for taught subject areas (e.g. for PE, first aid and swimming training certifications)
- Articulate and effective written and oral communication in English
- Ability to work collaboratively, professionally and effectively within a team
- Experience of working in an international school setting advantageous
- Willingness to adapt to and embrace a new school environment
- Willingness to contribute and champion educational change that supports best practice and improve student learning

Our School
The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates.
 
Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.
 
Children aged 2 years onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups.
