Currently, more than 1850 students are learning at our international school supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members.

As an AV Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of live event production. Your role will involve setup, operation, and breakdown of audio-visual equipment at various events.

General Responsibilities
·       As an AV Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of live event production. Your role will involve setup, operation, and breakdown of audio visual equipment at various events.
·       Work as a Sound Operator or Light Board Operator for any event that you are assigned
·       Assist with video setups and running equipment as assigned
·       Work as backstage crew for any events that you are assigned
·       Attend all technical rehearsals, rehearsals, calls and/or meetings as required
·       Pre-event, setup and assisting with the running of rehearsals for any event that you are assigned
·       Maintaining rehearsal items as necessary
·       Assist the with moving stage equipment as assigned
·       Eager to learn, has good interpersonal communication skills

Lighting & Sound
·       Operating and programming digital lighting board
·       Assist with the installation, hang, focus, and strike of lighting and sound equipment as needed.
·       Setup and use microphones, recording voiceovers and effects
·       Setup electronic musical instruments, and amplifiers 

Training & Support of Staff & Students
·       Support the Teaching & Learning, events, activities and productions
·       Assist with setting up and bump out of spaces for various events
·       Presence at relevant rehearsals, mostly in the auditorium, to assist with lighting design, focusing of lights, QLab programming, and other technical departments

Other Responsibilities and Skills
·       Managing technical areas & maintaining safe environments (dressing cables, gel inventory, accessories, maintaining a technical equipment audit etc)
·       Work with multi-media related to events performance styles (e.g. projections)
·       Video editing skills is an added advantage
·       Effective with time management and scheduling

Communicating
·       Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with students, teachers and facilities department
·       Ensure smooth co-ordination of tasks – by initiating discussions to promote progress
·       Attend various scheduled production meetings

General
·       Maintain a standard of personal image in keeping with the role
·       Operate within the policies of GESS
·       Undertake additional responsibilities as determined by the Theatre Technician &/or Head of Events

Knowledge and Experience
·       Completion of Secondary Education
·       Excellent organizational and communications skills
·       Familiarity with MAC operating system, basic proficiency in MS Office 365
·       Ability to hit the ground running and take initiative to assist wherever needed
·       Ability to follow instructions well and have patience
·       Familiarity with and affinity for the arts, specifically drama and music performances
·       Familiarity with basic stage direction and terminology
·       Applicants should be comfortable working at heights
·       Good command of written and spoken English & German
·       The ability to communicate well and work in a team is essential
·     Experience acting and directing student productions

Internship
·     Minimum commitment of 12 weeks for the internship.



S$1,000 - S$1,000 a month

Our School
The German European School Singapore (GESS) is a multi-lingual, not-for-profit, German international school in Singapore with a distinct European flavour. As an accredited ‘Excellent German School Abroad’, the German Section of GESS offers all major German school leaving certificates.
 
Our European Section offers tuition in English for students from grade 1 - 12 across all three IB programmes (the PYP, the MYP and the IB Diploma Programme) as an authorised IB World School.
 
Children aged 2 years onwards can enroll in our Preschool where children are following the PYP programme in German-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual groups.
