Who You Are:

Getty Images is seeking an accomplished Principal Product Designer to join our team! You’re a leading performer who prefers to run programs/projects over managing people directly. You thrive with close collaboration within cross-functional teams, relishing the opportunity to bring the customer perspective into team reviews and discussions. You are considered a leader in design with one or more superpowers across the design spectrum (IA, interaction, motion, visual, VUI, etc.), you have a comprehensive understanding of design history, standard methodologies and tools, and a command of widely used patterns. You help define the vision and lead the solution of broad/complex problems or end-to-end experiences that cross multiple product areas and work streams. You drive UX objectives and expectations across the organization, plan and implement programs that are strategic in nature and your leadership impacts the business. And you mentor and develop designers to raise the bar and evangelize design across business groups and beyond.

Your Next Challenge:

As a Principal Product Designer, you will help drive the creative process; determine the creative direction and propel the team through to successful completion. You will be heavily engaged with management in design planning and goal creation, and you will partner with collaborators broadly across the organization to influence overall product direction for maximum business and customer impact. You will help elevate and grow the product design and UX research team by leading by example and providing coaching/mentoring to team members.

What You'll Need:

    • Develop and use facilitation skills to engage cross-functional teams
    • Develop problem-framing approaches, establishing new starting points that lead to new kinds of solutions, which affects critical thinking, not just execution
    • Lead the solution of undefined problem spaces (e.g., “How can we reconsider how people look for and purchase items?”)
    • Use storytelling and persuasion techniques to build trust with partners and establish long-term relationships; comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization; demonstrate confidence and interpersonal skills
    • Use understanding of impact and success metrics to focus your team's efforts; Emerging understanding of broader organizational context and goals; Connects team's efforts with a savvy grasp of the ecosystem and organizational context; Develop an ability to articulate a vision
    • Drive cross-functional meetings
    • Proven ability to lead multiple and distinct projects at a time.
    • Developing judgment for evaluation of talent; provides feedback for shape of their overall team
    • Expert level craft skills (Interaction Design, IA, Visual Design, Concepting); Strong/capable in others (User Research, Writing, Service Design, Prototyping)
    • Expert level understanding of the latest tools (Figma, etc) and a strong grasp of running design systems
    • 7+ years of experience in Product Design with products that have been released to market
    • Passion for leadership, leading projects/programs, motivating and growing others

    • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in managing conflict
    • Experience thriving in an agile/lean development environment
    • 2+ years of leading projects and leading teams informally
    • Applicable degrees/certifications
