Your Next Challenge:
Getty Images’ Product Design team is seeking a Product Design Manager who will be an outstanding addition to our team. You'll lead a hardworking team, focused on crafting human-centric experiences for our Customers. The right person for this role must have experience in developing both holistic and future-forward experiences as well as a demonstrated ability to inspire and mentor designers and writers to push the boundaries, as well as keeping a focus on optimizing our current experiences.
In this role, you will manage the day-to-day and strategic activities of a team of Product Designers and Writers who are responsible for elevating the end-to-end experiences on iStock and Getty Images. This unique team (called e3) also includes Research, Service Design, as well as, a Product Manager, a Product Owner and Developers. You will partner with the different functions to find opportunities and solutions; prioritize them and then determine the best approach to address them.
As a design leader, you will be encouraged to use your full range of UX, product, interaction, systems, and design skills to raise the craft of your team, and guide them through the end-to-end development cycle.
What You'll Need
- Lead, support and inspire the design and writing team
- Partner closely with leaders in design, product and development to influence and execute on product vision and strategy.
- Manage and develop a team of designers and writers, including: managing project loads and allocating work accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met and setting up team members for career growth and overall success.
- Ensure your team consistently creates high-quality experiences as you move from concept to release.
- Critique and provide insightful feedback to ensure designs adhere to our design system, are strong solutions and of high-quality.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in a management or leadership role on a design team.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in user experience, product design and/or UX writing/content design.
- Positive attitude, collaborative and a passion for design excellence.
- Broad understanding of end-to-end design and the many skills that fit under the title of UX Designer, including interaction design, visual design, writing and front-end development.
- A solid history of outstanding design work and ability to coach and mentor a team towards great design.
- Proven ability to manage multiple and distinct projects at the same time.
- Ability to balance being a key partner, who has empathy towards their peers in and seeks consensus, while having a strong design presence and voice.
- Experience thriving in an agile/lean development environment.
Nice To Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree preferred
What You Can Expect (Mental and Physical Requirements)
- Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
- Occasionally moving objects up to 20 lbs and frequently moving objects up to 10 lbs.
- Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary.
- Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
