About our team:

Our team is integrating AI models into Getty Images and iStockphoto to help our customers find the perfect image.

The visual content produced by Getty Images over the past 25 years has helped define moments and shift perceptions. AI presents some of the greatest challenges and opportunities to what Getty does as a business. How we adopt it will be core to the company’s growth, and certainly is one of the most interesting frontiers we face (our Director of AI/ML has written about some of it here).

Our team operates like a startup within the company. We have a culture of using data to make decisions, and using quick product iterations to validate assumptions.

About the job:

Our team’s tech stack is Typescript, React, and Node.js. You will be delivering features using these technologies, and helping us drive standards for maintainability, performance and developer experience. We have a large surface area of problems to solve, and will look to match your skills and interests with a project that will have a broader impact. Working with us, you might get involved in a project like one of the below:

    • Design and implement APIs to bring insights from our data platform into our customer experience. For example, building a DynamoDB API for customer insights using data from our data lake and Kafka streams. 
    • Migrate a Ruby on Rails feature into our new micro-frontend framework. We use module federation inside of SSR React applications.
    • Establish the tooling and process to present our features inside of a design system in order to help us collaborate with our designers.
    • Help us improve the performance, maintainability, composability and developer experience of our React packages.

You will have a call with one of our engineering managers over phone or video. The goal is to get to know each other. There is no need to prepare, it will be informal. You can ask questions about the Company, the team and the product that we’re building.

If we’re both excited to continue the conversation, we’ll arrange for you to meet the team.

Technical Discussion
This will be an in-depth discussion about your technical experience, types of problems you like to solve and lessons learned.

The objective is to get a sense of your experience, how you work and where you might fit in.

Technical Challenge
At this point, we’ll give you the option of one of several technical challenges e.g.
1). A live pair programming session.
2). A take home challenge
3). Present previous work you’ve done e.g. open source, side project or a previous interview project.

You will also prepare a short explanation of something technical, it can be anything and in the format of text or a video. We look forward to hearing from you.
