Senior PR Specialist EMEA - London, UK

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications EMEA in London, this role supports and executes activities tied to the business’ communications goals, with a focus on media relations, writing, stakeholder engagement and campaign execution.

Due to the current conditions and impact of Covid-19, this key position will initially work from home, until such a time we open our offices. At the time of the local office opening, employees and managers will partner to figure out work site location in line with our Flexible working policy.

Who You Are:

    • You are a driven communications professional with experience devising and executing successful public relations initiatives with both business and media/marketing/advertising media.

    • You are passionate about storytelling and visual content (photography/video/illustrations) and relish the challenge to showcase Getty Images and iStock as the leaders in visual communications, harnessing the power of imagery and technology to continually innovate and move the world.

    • You have strong existing media contacts – specifically with brand/marketing trades – and are committed to excellence in your writing and day-to-day interactions and responsibilities. You can effectively lead long- and short-term objectives whilst hijacking breaking news and daily developments to position iStock and Getty Images as the top industry thought leaders. An ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities from across the business is essential.

    • You will develop and execute communications campaigns in support of our business objectives in region, ensuring that journalists and other key audiences understand why the company is transformative. You are an outstanding storyteller and will help identify how, when and which audiences to engage.

    • You are a creative self-starter who encourages confidence! You have a positive, go-getting, resilient attitude and bring solutions to the table. You can navigate the demands of working for a fast-moving, complex global organisation with diverse constituencies, and are forward thinking and able to build and cultivate innovative PR opportunities. Your Next Challenge:

    • Develop and deliver market-specific media relations strategies for Getty Images & iStock in EMEA – Germany, France UK. Localise global programmes so they resonate with regional media across various genres.
    • Work closely with external PR agency to develop highly effective and measurable media and industry relations strategies.
    • Run the day to day interactions with the retained PR agency.
    • Directly interact with and establish relationships with journalists from key media outlets to drive thought-leadership and brand awareness.
    • Proactively and reactively develop news media releases, pitches and op-eds which differentiate Getty Images and iStock from our competitors and raise awareness of our position as industry leader, driving greater understanding of our full range of products and services to key audiences – both media/marketing/advertising and business press.
    • Proactively identify and lead emerging issues.
    • Develop cross-functional relationships with colleagues from different teams across the company, in different countries and time zones, to drive projects against communications objectives.
    • Consistently deliver excellent written communications.

What You'll Need:

    • Degree in journalism, communications or a related field preferred
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in comparable PR/communications for a multi-national, creative, media or PR agency.
    • Established relationships with UK press (German and/or French contacts advantageous) and aim to constantly broaden your media network.
    • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English. Creative and compelling writer.
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organisational skills.
    • Clever, innovative personality. Appetite for an exciting opportunity; ready to roll up your sleeves and dig in!
    • Experience identifying and handling reputational issues.
    • Experience managing (or working within) a PR agency a plus.
    • Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape with demonstrable pitching experience.
    • Great relationship-building skills and the ability to work within a team environment across different time zones.
    • Flexible, adaptable and open: able to prioritise multiple projects at once and unfazed by change whenever it happens.
    • Proven track record in transforming business initiatives, announcements and ideas into PR opportunities and coverage.
    • Passion for working across different cultures and ability to adapt communications strategies and storylines.
    • Experience working with senior management.
    • Proficiency in German and/or French advantageous.

Mental and Physical Demands:

    • Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
    • Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary.
    • Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
    • Constant assessment of accuracy and thoroughness of the work assignment.
