Our client, a non-profit organization, providing high-quality housing to children and families in underserved areas is seeking a new finance leader for their organization. As the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial stability, transparency, and efficiency of our operations. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and collaborating with the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects, strategic planning, and risk management efforts of the organization. Your contributions will be vital in supporting our mission and maximizing our impact on the community we serve.


Responsibilities

    • Financial Strategy and Planning
    • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure budgetary compliance throughout the fiscal year.
    • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
    • Financial Management:
    • Oversee all financial transactions, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
    • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential financial risks.
    • Ensure proper financial controls and procedures are in place to safeguard assets and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Grants and Fundraising:
    • Collaborate with the development team to strategize and secure funding through grants, donations, and sponsorships.
    • Monitor the use of restricted funds and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
    • Investment and Cash Management:
    • Manage the organization's investment portfolio to optimize returns while maintaining a prudent risk profile.
    • Develop and execute cash management strategies to ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations and future initiatives.
    • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements, including IRS filings and grant reporting.
    • Board Engagement:
    • Present financial reports and updates to the Board of Directors, assisting them in understanding financial data and making informed decisions.
    • Collaborate with the Board's Finance Committee and support their efforts in financial oversight.
    • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
    • Monitor insurance coverage and recommend adjustments as necessary.
    • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Oversee the finance team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and open communication.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
    • CPA or MBA is a big + not must
    • Proven experience (typically 12+ years) in financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
    • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
$170,000 - $195,000 a year
