A global nonprofit organization is building out their Finance team and looking for an exceptional Senior Accountant! The organization is committed to serving the poor, homeless, and underprivileged youth. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the Director of Accounting & Finance, and will help manage the month end close process. Responsibilities will also include posting investment activities, assisting with budget preparation, and helping lead the annual audit.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, etc.
    • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and organizational policies and procedures.
    • Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to be presented to management and the board of directors.
    • Monitor budgetary compliance and assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Assist in the annual audit process by preparing supporting schedules, coordinating with auditors, and addressing inquiries.
    • Collaborate with program managers and department heads to provide financial guidance and support for grant management and reporting.
    • Stay updated on accounting regulations, nonprofit industry standards, and best practices, and proactively recommend changes or adjustments to accounting practices as needed.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • 2-5 of progressive accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit
    • Thorough understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements.
    • Experience with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
$70,000 - $85,000 a year
