We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join one of our distinguished nonprofit partners in Los Angeles. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. What you would be doing:

    • Assist in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, etc.
    • Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to be presented to management and the board of directors.
    • Assist in the annual audit process by preparing supporting schedules, coordinating with auditors, and addressing inquiries.
    • Collaborate with program managers and department heads to provide financial guidance and support for grant management and reporting.
    • Stay updated on accounting regulations, nonprofit industry standards, and best practices, and proactively recommend changes or adjustments to accounting practices as needed.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • 2-5 of progressive accounting experience
    • Direct nonprofit experience preferred
    • Audit experience is also desirable (will consider candidates coming straight from Public Accounting)
    • Thorough understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements.
    • Experience with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
$70,000 - $85,000 a year
