Our client, a large manufacturing company headquartered in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on our manufacturing costs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing industry, a strong analytical mindset, and exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

    • Manage and analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
    • Develop and maintain standard costing systems for accurate product costing.
    • Conduct regular variance analysis to identify cost drivers and areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with production teams to optimize processes and reduce manufacturing costs.
    • Prepare and present cost reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
    • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing expenses.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
    • Participate in inventory management activities, including cycle counts and reconciliations.
    • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the finance team.

Requirments

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
