Your Location
This position is hybrid and eligible for primarily remote work but is subject to the manager's discretion depending on the needs of the role to travel to the office or client sites. This role will require you to come onsite for an in-person New Hire Orientation, attend our Firmwide meeting twice a year and a department retreat once a year at the GHJ Los Angeles office.

You will be responsible for…

    • Supervising Senior Associates are responsible for leading the Firm’s larger and more complex audit, review, and compilation engagements and may manage two or more engagements simultaneously. 
    • Competent in the accounting and auditing standards, as well as core and more complex financial statement areas and begin to develop expertise in specialized technical topics.
    • Competent in project management and consistently plans, manages and delivers timely quality work product within budget, including reviewed working papers and financial statements to ensure they have been prepared in accordance with generally accepted professional standards and firm policies.
    • Proficient in performing applicable technical accounting research and developing conclusions for various accounting and auditing engagement issues.
    • Skilled at supervision and on-the-job training of engagement team members, including planning work assignments based on staff knowledge and capabilities and providing actionable timely feedback upon completion of their work.
    • Proficient in evaluation of clients' internal controls and is comfortable discussing with the client internal control findings and misstatements identified.
    • Monitors actual-to-budget engagement performance for the team and coordinates scheduling needs with the resource team.
    • Primary point of contact for clients on audit day-to-day flow questions
    • Communicates engagement's progress, problems, resolutions, financial information and other business concerns to the client and to engagement manager.
    • Serves in educational programs as an instructor or discussion leader.
    • Participates in firm's practice development efforts including expanding services to clients.
    • Participates in other projects as requested from time to time.
    • Such other duties as may be assigned.

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related equivalent, as well as CPA certification.
    • Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education is required each year to develop technical and supervisory skills to provide and supervise services to clients.
    • At least four (4) years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting programs.
    • Experience in waste and recycling is a plus.

GHJ complies with all local/state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD, technology), for example. At GHJ, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,000 to $127,500.
