Do you want to work on cutting-edge projects with the world’s best developers? Do you wish you could control which projects to work on and choose your own pay rate? Are you interested in the future of work and how the cloud will form teams? If so - the Gigster Talent Network is for you.

Our client is one of the leading multinational investment holding companies and currently, their business team is seeking an experienced developer to help automate its stock trade analysis process. The goal of this project is to build an Excel plug-in that automates this process by requesting a trading platform API service in a series of calls that would return its analysis to the trade analyst. This plug-in will streamline the analysis for multiple portfolio companies, potentially scaling to dozens in the future.

This is a short-term project that is part-time with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and develop an Excel plug-in using Python that seamlessly interacts with Bloomberg’s information system via REST API.
    • Ensure the plug-in is executable and easy to deploy and application accessible via SSO.
    • Implement business logic to handle multiple (e.g. 2-3) layers of API calls, including looping, checking, and re-sending data as needed.
    • Ensure the plug-in handles inputs from various fields, manages multiple API calls, and returns multiple data points per spreadsheet.
    • Work closely with the client technology and business team to ensure the solution meets business requirements.

Qualifications:

    • At least 5 years of experience building back end solutions.
    • Proven experience in developing Excel plugins, ideally with Python and Excel scripting (VBA).
    • Strong understanding of deploying and accessing Excel plug-ins and related infrastructure with the possibility of deploying this as a cloud solution in the future.
    • Experience with Bloomberg API integration is highly desirable but not limiting.
    • Ability to part-time overlap with PST and UK  time zones.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex business logic in API calls.
    • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and understand business needs.

Preferred Skills:

    • Previous experience working with financial data and stock trade analysis.
    • Working with Bloomberg systems is a plus.
    • Familiarity with OAuth/Token-based authentication systems.
