Director of Business Development

The 20th century was all about bits and the awesome technology of computers. The 21st century is all about atoms and the awesome technology of biology. Ginkgo Bioworks, the Organism Company, is at the center of bringing biotechnology to new markets. As a part of our business development team, you will be scouting new areas where Ginkgo organisms are ripe to be a disruptive technology, talk to customers in those areas about Ginkgo and biotechnology in general, collect data, refine hypotheses regarding viable Ginkgo products, and ultimately building out a sales pipeline in identified market(s). You are excited by the prospect of being part of an important technology company that brings biology to customers in whole new ways.


    • Applying Lean Startup approaches to identify new markets that Ginkgo should enter
    • Closing deals with customers in the identified markets


    • Familiarity with Lean Startup approaches
    • Prior technical background in biology preferred
    • Prior startup experience a plus
